Pakistan Cables announced that Mr. Roddy Macdonald, Executive Vice President, General Cable Corporation and Mr. Ernest K. Cuyegkeng, President, Phelps Dodge International (Philippines) Inc., have been appointed Directors of the Company with effect November 23, 2010. Both Mr. Macdonald and Mr. Cuyegkeng are nominees of General Cable Corporation, which recently acquired a 24.6% interest in Pakistan Cables through its subsidiary, GK Technologies, Inc.
Mr. Roddy Macdonald and Mr. Ernest K. Cuyegkeng will bring to Pakistan Cables considerable international experience and expertise with regards to the cable industry. Mr. Roddy Macdonald has served with General Cable in various roles since 1999, including overseeing Global Sales and Business Development. He has also served 25 years as an officer in the British Armed Services, and ended his distinguished career as Brigadier General. Mr. Ernest K. Cuyegkeng has held various senior business positions in the Philippines, including, President of Phelps Dodge Philippines, Director of A. Soriano Corp. and Arthaland Corp., Treasurer of Anscor Insurance Brokers Inc. and Chairman of AFC Fertilizer and Chemical Inc. |

The Joint Committee of ICAP & ICMAP announced that Pakistan Cables had been selected amongst the winners of the Best Corporate Report Award in the Engineering sector for the year 2009. The Best Corporate Report Awards are held annually to encourage better financial reporting, transparency and accountability. Pakistan Cables announced today that General Cable Corporation, headquartered in USA, and a Fortune 500 company, has committed to invest in Pakistan Cables by taking up a 25% equity stake in the company. The Signing Ceremony took place at the Avari Towers hotel in Karachi. Amongst those who attended were Mr. Shahid Hafiz Kardar, Governor State Bank of Pakistan, Mr. William J. Martin, US Consul General and Mr. Gregory B. Kenny, Chief Executive Officer & President of General Cable Corporation.

Pakistan Cables held seminars for dealers and electricians in 11 cities across Pakistan during November 2009. The company used the opportunity to appreciate over 60 of its best performing dealers and also to provide details to electricians about the various benefits of utilizing Pakistan Cables. Functions were held in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Multan, Faisalabad, Hyderabad, Abbottabad, Sialkot, Sarghoda, Jhang, Sukkur and Rahimyar Khan. These seminars are part of an on-going effort by Pakistan Cables to educate retailers and electricians about the advantages of using good quality cables. Over 1,500 people attended the events. |

Pakistan Cables held a function for its dealers in Lahore in order to give away prizes to the winning dealers from our March 2008 trade scheme. Prizes included motor cycles, televisions, deep freezers, fridges, TVs and DVD players. The grand prize, given away in the form of a lucky drawn, was a Suzuki Mehran car.

In April 2008, Pakistan Cables began producing cables for the automobile industry in Pakistan. These cables are used in the assembly of wire harnesses for OEMs and are manufactured under JIS (Japanese Industrial Standards). Specifications include AV, AVS, AVSS and AVSSH. Pakistan Cables Auto Cable plant has state of the art machines, including Niehoff wire drawing and bunching machines and a Tecnocable extruder. |

In April 2008 Pakistan Cables inaugurated its own 2 megawatt gas fired tri-generation power plant. This plant allows the company to be self sufficient for its energy needs and will assist the company in meeting its efficiency requirements. The power plant utilizes GE Jenbacher turbines. |

Pakistan Cables’ PVC compound plant became operational in April 2008.
The plant produces flexible PVC compounds for insulation and sheathing of electric cables. Pakistan Cables uses the most sophisticated machinery, including automated weighing and dosing systems for each component of the various formulations. The centralized control system allows for user-friendly operation of the whole plant while maintaining accurate control of each component. Our plant also has a polymers laboratory to enable the development of customer specific formulations.
Pakistan Cables’ PVC compound plant will ensure timely availability of raw materials for production, providing the company with improved control of its manufacturing process as it continues to expand. In addition, it will allow the company to service its customer’s requirements for flexible PVC compounds. |
