HSE Policy (Preview)

Ensuring the health and safety of its people and maintaining a healthy working environment is a priority at Pakistan Cables. The Company is committed to working towards promoting occupational health and safety, and designing a workplace that minimizes work related risks. Pakistan Cables has a comprehensive HSE Management System and HSE policy. Every employee’s obligation to comply with HSE requirements is ensured through a robust training programme and self-audits, internal audits and periodic management reviews.

Pakistan Cables products manufactures environmentally friendly products. The company is in the business of producing the highest quality general wiring and cables in Pakistan that conform tor International Standards.  

Conserve Energy:

99.99 percent pure copper is used in manufacturing cables that results in lower line losses and hence conservation of energy.  

Reduced De-forestation:

The complete product range manufactured and distributed through Alumex, as an alternative to wood windows and doors, helps in reducing de-forestation.

Reuse and Recycle:

Pakistan Cables encourages its customers to return the wooden cables drums for reusing that also contributes towards reducing wastage and de-forestation.

Energy Conservation:

As the Company has its own Power Plant, with waste heat recovery and vapor absorption chillers, it is able to more efficiently utilize gas and electricity, thus ensuring energy conservation.

Pakistan Cables endeavors to ensure Health and Safety of its employees and other associates at its premises. Impact on environment is always kept in mind while performing all company activities. The well-defined HSE policy plays a vital role in decision making at all levels to ensure full compliance of statutory requirements and best industry practices. Plant operations are strictly controlled to maintain safe environment for workers as well as the surrounding community. Several measures have been taken to control pollution and to maintain a clean, green and healthy environment which includes.  

  1.  Prevention of process gas emission into the atmosphere. 
  2.  Recycling of waste heat and continuous efforts to improve greenery .
  3.  Maintaining a clean environment in and around the factory through horticulture, better housekeeping, etc.  
  4.  All potentially hazardous material is monitored by the Company to ensure that best practices are followed in environmental protection. For example, any anodizing waste is neutralized as per NEQ standards prior to discharge.  



In-line with management’s objective, Pakistan Cables is certified for OHSAS 18001:2007 (Occupational Health & Safety Management System) and ISO 14001:2004 (Environmental Management System). Pakistan Cables is the only cable manufacturer in Pakistan to achieve these certifications.


Pakistan Cables has won three prestigious recognition awards in “Occupational Health Hygiene, Safety & Environment (OHHS&E)”. These include:

  1.  "Living the UN Global Compact Business Excellence Contest" – Event organized by Global Compact Network Pakistan. 
  2.  "7th, 8th, 10th & 12th Annual Environmental Excellence Award" – Event organized by National Forum for Environment & Health (NFEH) &
    United Nations Environment Program (UNEP).
  3. "3rd Prize – Workplace Environment" – Event organized by Employers’ Federation of Pakistan. 

The respective procedures are periodically updated to ensure accident free work place by encouraging instant reporting of all even near miss incidents followed by rigorous investigations to incorporate avoidance of future recurrences. HSE internal & external sequential audits of all departments are conducted to evaluate compliance.

Pakistan Cables has developed, implemented and maintained a procedure for “HSE Training and Competence” which facilitates the training and education of all employees / contractors performing tasks that can have an impact on the HSE culture of the company. The Company provides trainings to its employees on how to safely perform their duties with the objective of preventing occupational injuries, illnesses and losses due to on work accidents. At Pakistan Cables, a culture of safety is endorsed through various training sessions on handling of equipment, safety related rehearsals, firefighting drills, incident investigations and reporting, etc.  

In addition to our HSE initiatives, medical facilities are also provided to all employees, the Company operates an on-site dispensary with a full time doctor. Water emissions and effluents are frequently tested and found in compliance with the NEQS (National Environmental Quality Standards). Rehabilitation work of Fire Hydrant System within the PCL Factory has been completed. Extensive Fire Safety trainings and drills have been imparted to all employees and workers. 

Moreover, extensive work has also been done on machine guarding. Engineered solutions are provided in order to mitigate Occupational Health Injuries, like Ergonomics issues, particularly where repetitive movements are involved. Food Handlers are also medically examined periodically. No job related ill-Health Case has been reported so far. The Execution of LOTO (Lock Out Tag Out) System also enables to avoid any potential incident related to electrical source (energy) safety.  

HSE Flyers and Alerts are also circulated, which include: “How to Prevent from Sun Stroke”, “Safety Measures for Monson Season”, “Fatal Effects of Eating Gutka/Paan”, “World Environment/Earth Day”, “Ergonomics – How to Prevents Injuries due to Repetitive Movements”, “How to Prevent from Naegleria Virus” etc.

Pakistan Cables continues to play an active role in supporting social sector programs and has always been at the forefront in its recognition and responsibility towards meeting society needs. The Company’s efforts mainly focus towards the areas of health and education/trainings. Pakistan Cables has also been actively persuading other organizations to support and contribute towards Social Environment and Social Assessment (SESA).
